My Bike: History 2 Present

First some Background info Regarding my bike. Its a Black Bajaj Pulsar DTSi 150cc with Rajasthan (Jodhpur) number. I bought the bike (Dec 2003 make) when I was doing my sales stint in Western Rajasthan in 2004, and since 2005 I've never been to Rajasthan again, neither do I know anyone in Jodhpur who could help me in getting my NOC (I've been driving in Delhi/ Hyderabad and now in Bangalore without an NOC since quite sometime now), but now I'm trying to get an NOC as well as my Initial Road tax amount.

This blog will have my experience and learnings in getting my bike transferred, paying lifetime tax , getting NOC and finally getting back my original lifetime tax refund from Jodhpur RTO (if I do get anything!. At the time of writing this Blog, I've already got my bike to Bangalore from Hyderabad some 2 weeks back and now I've started the formalities to pay Road tax in Bangalore as I plan to be here for more than a year.

Lifetime Road Tax: Frankly, in my opinion, paying this tax in each and every state is a huge inconvenience and very difficult when everyone's on a move today. I believe its purely the inefficiency of States to coordinate among themselves which is being passed on to vehicle owners like me in terms of all the formal processes of getting the Refund from previous state and paying in new state. Add to that the fact that states in South (Karnataka, AP) show more than required enthusiasm in "catching" other state vehicles since most of the traffic police guys feel that its their right to make some money out of the "techies" making "Dollar money".

Although my bike has travelled from Jodhpur to Jaipur and then from Jaipur to Delhi by train, and from Delhi to Hyderabad by Truck, I'm going to start recording the incidents from the time I transferred my bike from Hyderabad to Bangalore. The only reasons for this are:
a) I'm quite lazy to recollect the series of incidents and documents required for all the previous shiftings,
b) Its only today that Devadas mentioned to me about writing a blog which can be used by others to help them in doing similar bike transfers in future,
c) Its only today that I decided to start some regular activity on this blog which has since my last post become linked with Google.
